Getting Started Guide for Students

We’re excited to have you join the Strive Financial Literacy Workshop, a self-paced learning experience designed to help you build a stronger, more confident financial future. Below are the important details to get you started and make the most of the workshop.

Required to Begin

Prerequisite

Visit Strive Wealth Builders Website and learn Strive Principles. Click the link “Learn Strive Principles”.  This step is important to understand our language, values, and preparation for the first Module “Mindset”. 

There are several other tools on the Strive Wealth Builders website that will also help you stay on track, provide additional resources and several videos to fill financial educational gaps along your wealth building journey.

Assessing the Workshop Videos & Materials

Workshop Format

The workshop is divided into 4 learning sessions:

  • Module 1: Mindset Shift (32:24)

  • Module 2: Building Better Habits (28:36)

  • Module 3: Take Control of Your Finances (Part 1) (57:38)

  • Module 4: Build Your Wealth (Part 2)

Each session includes:

  • A video lesson from your instructor, Detra L. Harris, Principal of Strive

  • Video Bonuses (Recommended)

  • Downloadable PDF and excel worksheets (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wGOY6tlol3c-KmVmOLbJfbAV4H5iAiVT?usp=sharing)

Materials needed for the workshop:

  • A writing pen and notebook.  

  • (Recommended) 3-hole binder.

  • Assess to a Computer or Laptop with printer and the internet.

Below, Modules 1 through 4 are available for students to watch the instructor's learning videos, download assignments and a link to ask questions (if applicable).  Optional: (Recommended) Download and print out all learning materials, exclude printing excel spreadsheets, save these files on your computer/laptop for access. Place all learning materials in a binder for access during the video presentations. Write notes on the learning materials and/or in your learning notebook (not provided). The instructor recommends completing all self-pace learning modules (4) within 30 days from starting. This will help to stay motivated and engaged. The instructor recommends completing one module per week and completing assignments as directed by the instructor.

By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
Understand the man-made nature of money and its historical and ideological foundation.
  • Explore the purpose of money in American society.

  • Recognize cultural and systemic narratives that shape financial behavior.

  • Begin shifting mindset from scarcity, fear, or consumption to empowerment, responsibility, and intentionality.

- Learn tools for making better decisions in daily life and financial matters.
